He was born in Ter Aar, Holland on April 13, 1917 to Jacobus and Kornelia Kroon and immigrated to America in 1948. He and his family moved to Farmington in 1952 where they owned and operated a dairy farm for 20 years, later planting walnuts.

He loved his wife Henny and was able to celebrate 60 years of marriage with her before she passed away in late 2006. Mr. Kroon will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor, which he maintained until the time of his death. He found his greatest joy from working with his hands on the farm he loved so much and from spending time with his family, friends and his beloved animals.

Survivors include his sons, John (Gayle) and Nick (Kathy) Kroon of Farmington and Cornelius (Shari Lee) Kroon of Manhattan, Montana; daughter Winnie (Steve) Rivinius of Farmington; grandchildren Gary, Joey, Kevin, Tod, Kurt, Angelica, Reynante and Ronaldo Kroon, Amy Seibel, and Dirk and Lindy Northcutt); and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bartolomeus, Dirk, and Cornelis Kroon and three sisters, Johanna Wolswijk, Cornelia Schreuder, and Aletta de Gooyer, all of Holland, and by one brother, Pieter Kroon of Wilton.

Graveside services were held Saturday, Sept. 3 at the Farmington Memorial Cemetery followed by church services at the Zion United Reformed Church, Ripon.
