Hilda Jean Vegas passed away at Bethany Home in Ripon on July 12, 2022. She was born Hilda Jean Sipma to parents Arthur and Genie in Ripon on September 10, 1928. She spent most of her adult life in Oakdale, California.
Hilda married Joe Vegas in 1946, and the pair raised five children in Oakdale. They spent 57 years of marriage together until his passing in 2003. Hilda was an angel in life, and is now an angel in Heaven. She loved her friends and family immensely and under any circumstances. In return, all who knew her loved her back and cherished what a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend they had in Hilda. Hilda loved to garden, she loved her trees, her animals, and watching the hummingbirds fly. Hilda loved life and her kind spirit will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
Hilda is preceded in passing by her husband of 57 years, Joe; her daughter and son-in-law Jeanette Marie and Henry Kennedy; her granddaughter, Dena; and her sister-in-law, Ginny Sipma. Hilda is survived by her children, Fred Anthony Vegas of Oakdale, James Alfred Vegas of Oakdale, Daniel Joseph Vegas (Linnea) of Mancos, Colorado and Mari Kathryn Rossini (Michael) of Oakdale; her nieces and nephew, Sherry (Mike) who took excellent care of her during her stay at Bethany Home, Allen (Janice) and Tracy; grandchildren, Brian of Riverbank, Jennifer (Aaron) of Alameda, Sherry of Escalon, Brandy (Travis) of Modesto, Heather (Jeremi) of Lathrop, Jimmy of Oakdale, and Tyra (Blake) of Mancos, Colorado; and her brother, Art Sipma, of Ripon.
Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Vegas family. A viewing will take place at Deegan Chapel in Escalon on August 4, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held on August 5, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon. After the service, please join the family at the Sportsman’s Club in Escalon for a reception.
