Henry Elwin Koch, 77, died on Saturday, Dec. 11 in Manteca.
He was born on July 1, 1933 in Marble Falls, Texas to William and Kate Koch.
Family and friends knew Henry as "Hank" and he grew up in Escalon, graduating from Escalon High School. He served his country for nine years through the United States Air Force. While serving his country, he was the pitcher for the Air Force baseball team.
He retired after 35 years of service from the Iron Workers Union.
Among his many accomplishments, he was an excellent softball pitcher, pitching many "no hitters" for over 15 years in the Manteca area. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by his loving companion of 25 years, Alice Lawellin, as well as Alice's children, whom he loved dearly, Jon and Debbie Questo, Rick and Chere Lawellin, Brad and Sherry Steele; five grandchildren, Christopher, Janelle, Taylor Rose, Nicholas and Reanee; brothers Theodore, George, Kenneth and Seth Koch; sisters Nella Sorrenti and Nita Boutin: as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation and services were Monday, Dec. 20 at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home in Manteca with burial at Burwood Cemetery, Escalon.
