George Tune

George Tune, 81, died at his home in Twain Harte on May 19.

He was born in Woodward, Oklahoma to George and Anna Elizabeth Tune and was a 1946 graduate of Escalon High School.

Mr. Tune served in the Korean War as a radioman. He had lived in Twain Harte since 1955 and was a licensed contractor, establishing Tune Construction in 1969.

He enjoyed spending time on his houseboat at New Melones Reservoir and also attended sporting events for his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed drawing, writing, gardening, carving and painting.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Dorris Tune; children, Cyndy Tune of Newman, Genna (James) Briscoe of Twain Harte, James (Stacy) Tune of Twain Harte, Joseph (Diane) Tune of Hickman; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Cardoza of Manteca, Mary Nepote of Ripon, Annabelle Martin and husband Hubert of Escalon, and Irene Butler of Escalon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jeffrey Dean Tune; brothers, Ruben, Jason, Everett, Paul and Norman Tune; and sister, Pauline Davis.

A funeral service with full military honors was held May 24 at Mountain Shadow Cemetery in Sonora. A celebration of life was held at the Sonora Church of Christ.
