Gary Knox, 67, passed away on Tuesday, June 19 in Modesto.

He was born on June 16, 1945 in Oakdale.

Mr. Knox grew up in Escalon all his life. He graduated from Escalon High School in 1963, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an avid carpenter and loved to build masterpieces in his garage. He loved to go camping with his family, and in his younger years, he enjoyed dirt bike riding.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Cindy Knox; his children, Sherry Sellars (Todd Murray), Brandy Langhout (Travis), and Heather Barrios (Jeremi); grandchildren Ashleigh, Breanna, Brittany, Jeremi, Andrew, Sydnee, and Ryan; brothers Charles Knox, Al Knox, and Russell Knox.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Melissa Knox, and his three sisters Bertha Mason, Ruth Rose, and Leola Best.

Deegan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 29 at 3 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin St. in Escalon.

America Westphal

America Louise Westphal, 89, of Manteca passed away on Friday, June 15.

She was born July 15, 1922 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Ora and Grover Allen and was the youngest of three siblings.

She was an intensely devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family and friends unconditionally. She enjoyed eating out, playing games, gardening and reading; and was the consummate caregiver, garnering great pleasure in helping others.

She led a rich and full life and leaves a legacy of love for her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Survivors include five daughters, Karen Faulkner, Anita Faulkner, Carol Dunbar, Cindy Childers and Thelma Faulkner; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
