Donald Fletcher

Donald Nelson Fletcher, 80, of Escalon, passed away unexpectedly recently at Kaiser Permanente in Modesto.

He was born in Oklahoma City, OK to John and Vonna Fletcher and grew up in Edmond, OK. In 1947 he enlisted in the Navy and later served also in the National Guard. After his military service, Mr. Fletcher worked for the City of Hayward, driving heavy equipment, especially the Street Sweeper for 32 years. He retired in 1996.

In 1971 he married Georgetta McLean in Reno. He has enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, and horseshoes. Their favorite campground was at Lake Beardsley in the Sonora area. He was a family man who was careful to help and guide his family.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Georgetta Fletcher; three children, Charlotte Scott of Escalon, Doyle Griffiths of Redmond, OR, and Yvonne Hinrichs of Escalon; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and two siblings, Felton Fletcher and Rosalie Bates of San Jose.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date at the family home.
