Delmar Schmidt, 84, a longtime resident of Escalon, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 31.

He was born in Lodi, California on July 16, 1930 to Martha and Andreas Schmidt. He attended Escalon High School and was active in FFA.

He married Marguarette White in June 1949; together they raised six children and celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Mr. Schmidt retired from his Agricultural repair business and enjoyed his family, friends and his garden.

Survivors include his companion Jessie Silva; his children, Ginger Goehring, Steve Schmidt, Gail Shearer, Scott Schmidt, Genell Powell, Stan Schmidt; grandchildren Jim, Erica, Erin, Wendi, McKenzie, Angela, Josh, Jason, Holly, Christopher, Cortney, Brittney, Emily, and Madison; 23 great-grandchildren and his brother, Marvin Schmidt.

A visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 7 at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Aug. 8 at Burwood Cemetery at 10 a.m.
