Delbert Keith Kalbach, 70, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 30 after short battle with cancer.

He was born on May 28, 1939 to Paul and Mildred Kalbach.

He met his first wife Jackie while attending California State University, Chico. Upon graduation, he and his wife made their home in Biggs, California after he took a teaching position at Biggs High School where he taught for 31 years. During his career at Biggs High School, Mr. Kalbach dedicated his life to helping young adults realize their full potential through teaching and coaching sports.

After his retirement, he enjoyed his two other great passions in life, hunting and horseback riding.

Survivors include his mother, Mildred Downard; sister, Darlene Walker; wife, Mary Kalbach; son, Bart Kalbach and his companion Margie Egan; daughter, Karrie Kalbach-Alexander; son-in-law, Daniel Alexander; and two grandchildren, Lexie and Lane Alexander.

He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife of 33 years, Jackie Kalbach.

A celebration of life service was held Tuesday, Oct. 6 at the Chico Area Recreation District (CARD) center.
