Charls H. Nickens, 69, died Tuesday, Feb. 1.

He was born in New York but raised in the Lubbock, Texas area. He moved to Oakdale where he lived for more than 40 years.

Mr. Nickens worked for Manteca Camper and Trailer before opening his own business.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Oakdale, The Loyal Order of Odd Fellows in both Oakdale and Knights Ferry and the Rebekkas of Knights Ferry.

He enjoyed playing Santa Claus at Christmas Tree Lane and numerous other club events.

He is survived by his daughter, Cindi Kromann of Escalon; sons, Steve Peeden of Damascus, OR, Curtis Nickens and Jack Nickens, both of Lubbock, TX; sister, Jody Roper of Modesto; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldye; and daughters, Debbie Blunt, Susan Stanley, and Becky Peeden.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb.12 at Oaklawn Memorial Park, 421 N. Sierra Ave., Oakdale. A reception will follow at 26089 Magnolia Ave, Escalon.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the 3 Links Childrens Camp.
