Caroline Emma Borba, 89, peacefully passed away December 27, 2021 in the presence of her loving family. Caroline was born January 15, 1932 to Joaquin and Carolina Pereira in Snelling, CA. She was raised in Snelling and is where she and Frank V. Borba were married. Several years later, they moved to Escalon to raise their family and to be part of a great Portuguese community. Caroline had so many wonderful qualities about her; she was a kind, loving and nurturing wife, mother and Ava (grandmother in Portuguese). She enjoyed cooking for her large family and anyone who stopped by, because her door was always open. Caroline was an avid card player with her daughter, friends and neighbors; they played a Portuguese card game called “Sueca.” Not only was Caroline a beautiful, caring and loving person, she was a devout Catholic and Parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Escalon. She prayed the rosary seven times daily. Caroline and Frank were the first presidents of Our Lady of Fatima Celebration at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, she was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Y.L.I. #179 of Escalon, C.P.S.C. and many other organizations.
Caroline is survived by her children, Frank D. Borba (Carol) of Escalon, Michael Borba (Lisa) of Escalon, Jeannette Borges (Manuel) of Stockton, Lawrence Borba (Laurie) of Valley Home, Dennis Borba of Valley Springs and Clarence Borba (Marion) of Escalon; grandchildren, Jonathan Borba (Terri) of Oakdale, Michelle Terra (Matthew) of Escalon, Frank L. Borba (Aubrey) of Escalon, Michael Trevor Borba of Valley Home, Natalie Silva (Robert) of Oregon, Melissa Vieira (Jason) of Stockton, Jared Borba of Escalon, Heather Borba of Escalon, Nicole Morris (Johnny) of Modesto, Elizabeth Swilley (Johnny) of Oakdale, Justin Borges (Breanne) of Stockton, Lawrence P. Borba of Valley Home, Emma Ellis (Derrick) of Oakdale, Dennis S. Borba of Brazil, Vitoria Borba of Brazil, Vivian Borba of Escalon and Georgie Sanchez of Los Angeles. She is also survived by her 21 great grandchildren and her siblings, Alverina Cosmero of Oakdale, Lena Machado of Oakdale, John Pereira (Evonne) of Atwater, Joe Pereira (Connie) of Escalon and Carlos Borba Fregoso of Escalon; sister in-law’s, Lucy Borba, Elsie Dutra, Velma Vasconcellos and Delores Borba all from Escalon. Caroline is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Frank V. Borba; granddaughter, Cortney Borba and brothers, Tony Pereira and Jack Pereira.
Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Borba family. A viewing will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin St., Escalon, CA 95320. Funeral service to follow, Thursday, January 6, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church include; Recitation of the Rosary at 10:30 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. followed by a Committal at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
