Carol A. Vieths, 74, died suddenly on Monday, June 9 as a result of a massive heart attack.
She was born in Manteca to Clarence and Chloe Colldeweih. She attended Manteca and Escalon schools, graduating from Escalon in 1957.
She met George on a blind date in 1959 and they were married in 1962. She was a resident of Oakdale for 52 years.
After graduating, she worked for the USDA Agriculture and Stabilization Office in Stockton and Modesto until retiring in 1972 to be a stay-at-home mom. While her son was in school, she volunteered as a classroom aide and also coached soccer teams.
Mrs. Vieths later worked in the family-owned Walnut Woods Paint and Walnut Woods Blinds in Oakdale until the business was sold in 2004.
She was a longtime member of the Oakdale Ladies Golf Association and was a past president of the group.
She enjoyed golfing, traveling, computer games, animals, and penny slots. Her greatest enjoyment was being Grandma.
She is survived by her husband, George; son, Kenneth; brothers, Robert Colldeweih of Sacramento, Jack Colldeweih of Hillsdale, N.J.; and granddaughters, Hallie and Kamdyn.
A viewing was held June 17 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, also at the chapel.
Per her wishes, in lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Oakdale Animal Shelter, or to a charity of your choice.
