Bernice Silveira, 81, passed away Saturday, Sept. 21.

She was born and raised in San Leandro. She met her husband in Oakland and they were married on Nov. 2, 1957.

Mrs. Silveira was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Escalon. She was very proud of her Portuguese heritage, had visited the Azores Islands often, and had been active with the Portuguese Hall in Tracy.

She had various jobs, but was more devoted to being a housewife and mother, and enjoyed dancing, gardening and volunteering for the Salvation Army and the Senior Centers.

She is survived by her children, Debbie (Kevin) McAlpin of Stockton, Joseph Perreira of Ripon, Tammy (Tom) Langston of San Clemente, Anthony (Carrie) Silveira II of Casper, WY, Michelle Serrado of Stockton; daughter-in-law, Dione Silveira of Escalon; 22 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Silveira and son, Shannon Silveira.

Visitation was held Sept. 25 at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, Lodi. Services were held Sept. 26 in Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park.
