Aurelia (Peggy) Owen, a Ceres resident since 1988, passed away Thursday, August 13 after a brief illness. She was born in 1922.

She was a member of a local coffee club and will be remembered by many as the friendliest woman they ever met. She was a devoted shopper and will be missed by many local merchants.

Survivors include her daughter, Judith Owen Sutherland and husband Scott of Fremont; her son, George B. Owen Jr. and wife Linda of Ventura; a sister, Mary Louise Hahn of Mandeville, LA; three grandsons, Robin Sutherland of Elk Grove, Todd Sutherland of Nixa, MO and Christopher Bruder of Smithville, TX; seven great-grandchildren Tyler, Erin, Haydn, Ryan, Lexus, Oakley and Owen.

Her special friends and adopted grandchildren Annette and Bill Patterson of Ceres also survive her.

Her husband, Navy Master Chief George B. Owen Sr. preceded her in death in 1968.
