Anthony J. Bettencourt died on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013.

He was born in Santa Cruz, Calif. to Antonio C. and Rizuelita Bettencourt. He served in the US Army during WWII. He was stationed at Dutch Harbor and Aleutian Islands with the 250th Coastal Artillery.

Mr. Bettencourt worked for the Teamsters Union for 35 years in the Bay Area then retired in Escalon in 1989. He enjoyed golfing and being around all his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Lucy; sons John and James; his granddaughters Kristina, Jennifer, Hollie and Heather and also great grandson Ryan.

Visitation was at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Monday, Jan. 14 followed with a Rosary/Mass.

Graveside services were at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Fremont on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to: Alexander Cohen Hospice House, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356.
