Alice Lajiness Moebius Maybee, 94, passed away peacefully at her residence in Copperopolis on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 surrounded by her family.

Born on March 11, 1918 in LaSalle, MI, she moved to Manteca with her husband and young family in the 1940s. She loved cooking and growing her own health food. She was a seamstress for many years and was known as Santa's Tailor for the suits she created and rented to families. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Survivors include her sons, Michael Moebius of Las Vegas, NV and Charles (Barbara) Moebius of Manteca; daughters June (Paul) Cullison of Mountain Home, ID, Kyran Enzi (Al Segalla) of Copperopolis, Dianne Yater of Farmington, Laura (Russell) Lawson of Sonora and Frances (Jerry) Hodge of Granby, MO; a sister, Mildred Darby of Monroe, MI; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by husbands Lester Moebius in 1978 and George Maybee in 1995.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Angels Camp.

Private interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
