Albert Martin Honthaas, 89, passed away on Wednesday, April 6 at Horizon West Care Center in Sacramento, CA.
He was born Oct. 28, 1921 and had been a resident of the Escalon and Farmington area all of his life. He had retired in 1988 from farming rice and walnuts. He was a World War II veteran and served in the European Theater.
Mr. Honthaas was active in many community organizations: Farmington United Methodist Church, Farmington volunteer fireman, Rice and Walnut associations, 4-H leader, Farmington Soil conservation, and Escalon Historical Society. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Gerrie and son-in-law Michael Prybyla, Doug and daughter-in-law Ronny Honthaas; grandchildren, Christopher Prybyla (Tasha), Tracy Prybyla and Marissa Honthaas.
He was preceded in death by wife, Jewel, of 62 years; parents Grat and Amelia Honthaas; and brother, Henri.
A memorial service will be held at the Farmington United Methodist Church on Wednesday, April 20 at 1 p.m.; burial will be private.
Donations may be made to the Farmington United Methodist Church and Alzheimer's Aid Society of Northern California.
