The National Weather Service office in Sacramento has issued a Red Flag Warning, which remains in effect through 8 p.m. Monday, May 19.
The affected area includes the Northern San Joaquin Valley in San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties below 1000 feet, excluding the Delta.
The red flag warning calls for gusty winds and low humidity, leading to fire danger.
North winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are expected. Strongest winds are expected across the central Sacramento Valley, along and west of Interstate 5.
Humidity will be between 15 to 25 percent.
Highest threats will be in the Central and Southern Sacramento Valley along and west of the I-5 corridor and the Northern San Joaquin Valley.
The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
