Valley Lode District has approximately 21 garden clubs throughout the Central Valley, and they meet every three months. At their most recent session, the Lodi Garden Club hosted the gathering.

Members from the Valley Lode District Garden Club had a very interesting and educational meeting at the Micke Grove Zoo in Lodi. The Lodi Garden Club sponsored the event and arranged to have two guest speakers, Stuart Spencer and Janice Vaughn. The two are very much involved with the wine industry. They have 750 farmer members and a total of 90,000 acres of vineyards in Lodi. They indicated that the diversity of soil allows for planting numerous varieties of grapes; Lodi is the largest grape growing area in California, with some vineyards 140 years old.
