Transit Service Officials See Bright Future In Area

San Joaquin RTD, Regional Transit District, is inviting area residents to “The Future is Bright!” a grand opening event introducing the new Union Transfer Station in south Stockton to the community. RTD will also be celebrating the “electrification” of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Routes 47 (the Midtown Corridor) and BRT Route 49 (the MLK Corridor), which will improve air quality with zero emission vehicles.

The ‘Future is Bright’ event is free, fun, and family-friendly with carnival games, live musical performances, food, and more.

Scheduled to appear are: 9th District Congressman Jerry McNerney; Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs; Proterra CEO, Ryan Popple; Stockton City Council District 6 Councilmember Jesus Andrade (pre-recorded video); Senior Field Representative for Assemblymember Susan Talamantes Eggman, Zenet Negron; and Executive Director of the Reinvent Stockton Foundation and Stockton Unified School Board President, Lange Luntao.

Festivities are scheduled for Friday, March 1 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds, Building 1, 1658 S. Airport Way, Stockton.
