Escalon Fire Department, in cooperation with the Escalon American Legion Post 263 and American Legion Riders, are putting on their annual toy distribution for those less fortunate in the community in December. Boxes to collect new, unwrapped toys for the effort have been placed throughout the community and donations are being sought now.
Firefighters delivered the collection boxes during the past week and the boxes will stay out until at least mid-December, with this year’s distribution planned shortly before Christmas Day.
Specifics regarding the sign-ups for the program and the actual giveaway day are still being worked out and will be published in a future issue of The Times.
However, the collection of toys for boys and girls of all ages, from birth up through the early teens, are being sought.
Boxes are available at: Escalon Premier Brands, Main Street Garage, City of Escalon offices on McHenry Avenue, Oak Valley Community Bank, MarVal, Pizza Plus, Mountain Mike’s, D’Boni’s, Vineyard Pharmacy, the Escalon firehouse on Coley, Family Dollar and Bank of the West. Also, Hogan Manufacturing, Van Allen Elementary School, Dent Elementary School, El Portal Middle School, Saron Lutheran Church, Starbucks, Trinity Church and Les Schwab.
