Third Superintendent Search Meeting

The third and last community meeting to provide input into the Escalon Unified School District Superintendent search process will be held on Thursday, Oct. 29 at Collegeville Elementary, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Community members and parents who have not attended a previous community meeting are invited to express their opinions regarding desired qualifications for the new district superintendent, who will be selected in March, 2010 and take over in July, 2010.

"The first meeting, we had a small turnout, then it was a little bit bigger when we had the second meeting at El Portal," current superintendent Dave Mantooth said. "The input has been very good, the facilitators have been very pleased."

Mantooth has submitted his retirement resignation, putting in motion the search process for a new superintendent. Helping facilitate the input sessions is Gary DeiRossi, assistant county schools superintendent for San Joaquin County.

Mantooth said he sat in on the recent public meeting and was pleased to see that many of the comments being made, including the attributes that residents want in a superintendent "is pretty much in line" with what school district officials are looking for as well.

The first of the three public input sessions was hosted at Escalon High, the second at El Portal Middle School and the third one, tomorrow night, will be in Collegeville, serving as a central point for the rural district campuses.

For those unable to attend, they may also provide input through a survey website located at http://escalon.sjcoe.net.
