More than 50 trophies were up for grabs and more than 200 cars were in the running for them on Saturday, Sept. 13, as the classics motored in to Escalon for the annual Autumn Cruise put on by the Escalon Lions Club.

The day featured bright sunshine, blue skies and near perfect mid-September temperatures, providing the backdrop for yet another successful cruise.

Starting off the day was the pancake breakfast put on by the Escalon American Legion at the Post rooms on Second Street, drawing a big crowd. A portion of Main Street was shut down to vehicle traffic while the show went on, though plenty of people took the opportunity to find parking on city streets and make their way to the Main Street Park to take a look at the vehicles.

There were some in pristine condition, some in the process of being restored, and some entered just as they were; but all with a story to be told.

Part of the fun for those having cars – or trucks – in the show is the ability to share that history with attendees, whether it was a classic passed down through the generations or a car that was driven off the lot and stayed with one owner.

Throughout the day, there were drawings for raffle prizes, a lunch was put on by the Lions Club, with plenty of Escalon High School students on hand to help serve it up, along with music and a chance to enjoy watching the vehicles cruise on Main Street during the presentation of trophies.
