Saturday sunshine was warm enough to drive dozens to share in the annual Ice Cream Social hosted at the Escalon United Methodist Church, hosted the evening of Aug. 10.

Ice cream makers brought in a variety of homemade and often unique flavors, while there was also a vast selection of pies, cookies, brownies and more to add alongside the ice cream.

Organizers were pleased with the turnout and volunteers were busy cutting up the desserts, scooping out the ice cream and clearing away used bowls and plates, keeping the event running smoothly.

Among the flavors offered this year were avocado key lime, blueberry cheesecake, caramel banana, butter pecan, chocolate, wild blackberry, decaf coffee and pineapple coconut.

Meanwhile, the church is also planning for its next big event, the annual yard sale, on the schedule for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6 and 7.
