The Federal Reserve announced three rate cuts for 2024, and experts caution that without intervention, the labor market’s downturn – evident from unprecedented declines in employment during normally robust months – could reach a critical crossroads. This is part of the outlook for the year as detailed in the biannual San Joaquin Valley Business Forecast, produced by Stanislaus State’s Gokce Soydemir, the Foster Farms endowed professor of business economics.

Transformative Gift

During a summer in India, Dr. Stephanie Brown witnessed poverty unlike anything she’d known as the daughter of an attorney. Her experience informed Brown’s decision to establish the First-Generation Pre-Med Scholarship fund with her daughters, both of whom are Stanislaus State alumnae. The scholarship aims to support first-generation pre-med and nursing students and address the shortage of healthcare professionals in the Central Valley.

Free Professional Certificates

Stanislaus State has teamed up with Google and Coursera to offer an innovative online training program that provides its business students an opportunity to earn Google Professional Certificates in various high-demand fields, free of charge. The innovative partnership allows the University to increase its educational offerings and meet the evolving needs of students and employers.
