Members from a number of churches in Escalon converged in the expansive parking lot of the Escalon Covenant Church for some trunk or treat fun this past week.

Hosted on Wednesday, Oct. 30, the annual Trunk or Treat saw hundreds of costumed youngsters milling about the colorfully decorated and often spooky-themed vehicles. Games were set up at each, with attendees playing a game to earn a piece or two of candy. There was more than enough fun and sweets to go around, while the evening also included some music, visits with McGruff the Crime Dog and tours of police and firefighting vehicles. Both Escalon Police Department and Escalon Fire Department had representatives on scene to distribute candy and provide tours of the rigs.

A free hot dog dinner was served as well and the evening was a safe, fun community event that saw young trick or treaters get candy bags filled up even before the actual Halloween observance.
