Sober Grad Committee Sets Tri-Tip Fundraiser

While it’s unknown right now whether they will be able to have an in person graduation at the end of the current 2020-21 school year, members of the Escalon High School Sober Grad Committee are still committed to raising funds for this year’s seniors.

To that end, the committee has announced it will host its popular drive-thru Tri-Tip Dinner Fundraiser, scheduled for Saturday, March 6.

This year, it will be hosted at the Escalon Presbyterian Church, 1612 First St., Escalon and hours are 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The annual Sober Grad night has been hosted at Escalon High School for years, giving members of the senior class a chance to celebrate their accomplishments with an all-night event at the school, in a safe and sober environment. The Class of 2020 did not get the chance to attend the party due to the pandemic cancelling the traditional graduation in June, but each senior was presented with a gift card by the Sober Grad committee.

Committee member Renee Snow said they are hoping for the opportunity to put on a full grad night party this year for the Class of 2021 but that isn’t a certainty yet.

“We may not be able to hold the actual grad night but we’d like to be able to still raise some money to give them a little something,” Snow explained.

She said the location for the drive-thru fundraiser has changed and it is being held later than its traditional January date, but the majority of the other details have remained pretty much the same.

“Just drive up and we will deliver it to your car,” she added.

Ticket price is $45 before Saturday, Feb. 27 and $50 on or after Feb. 27.

The ‘Curbside to Go’ meal includes a BBQ whole tri-tip, four baked potatoes, a bag of salad, loaf of French bread and a two-liter bottle of soda.
