SMOKY SITUATION
FIRE PIX.jpg

Fire crews from Escalon had to utilize their new wildland brush truck to access a brush and grass fire in a field off Arthur Road, between Arthur and Yosemite, about 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evening, Sept. 27. Fire hoses had to be placed across the railroad tracks, prompting the brief shutdown of train traffic through the area. Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames. The smoke, however, wafted to the east, causing some smoky conditions during the third quarter of the freshman football game being played at the high school football field.
