The once-a-year caravan of police, fire, ambulance and city personnel will visit seven spots for National Night Out in Escalon, on Tuesday, Aug. 4.

Coordinated through the Escalon Police Department and coinciding with the nationwide observance, each stop features a brief time for first responders and city officials to meet and greet members of the public in a relaxed atmosphere. The goal of National Night Out is to ‘take back the night’ from crime and Escalon’s event gets underway at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The first stop will be at Saron Lutheran Church, 1742 North St., featuring a taco dinner with the scheduled stop from 5:30 p.m. to 5:50 p.m.; then it’s on to 2206 Mission from 5:55 p.m. to 6:10 p.m. for a BBQ.

Third stop of the evening is at 383 Noni for a potluck, 6:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; followed by a stop on Palomino Court for ice cream from 6:35 p.m. to 6:50 p.m.

Stop number five for the caravan will be on Chardonnay Court from 6:55 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. – menu and/or activities to be determined – with the sixth stop at 1635 Fisk from 7:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with hot dogs being served. Finally, the last stop on the schedule is at 916 California from 7:35 p.m. to 7:50 p.m., where the caravan will wrap up the evening.

There are community organizers at each stop pulling the neighborhood events together and the caravan arrives at each one with lights blazing and sirens blaring. At each stop, there are opportunities to tour the emergency equipment, ask questions and share some food and community camaraderie.
