Senior Night Honors To Include Alumni
EHS

In a new feature, the Escalon High School Senior Night observance for the wrestling program will also include recognition for some outstanding Cougar alumni grapplers.

Head coach Derek Scott said the special night will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 25 in the old gym on the EHS campus, starting at 5:30 p.m.

The match that night will pit the Cougar varsity and the varsity girls against Hilmar. There will be no JV action.

This year’s wrestling seniors to be honored include Christian Rowe – who has had to sit out his senior year with a lingering injury – along with JW Mills, Victor Romero and Lady Cougar Jessica Freitas.

“It will be a Senior/Alumni Night,” explained Scott, with a foursome of dominant Cougar wrestlers from the past also invited to attend.

The alumni honorees, who will have some of their career achievements noted during the pre-match recognition ceremony, are: Ed Alves, Curtis Schurkamp, Dominic Freeseha and Daniel Gonzalez.

“We wanted to represent wrestlers from different eras,” Scott said, “and we want to highlight our alumni accomplishments.”

All in the community are invited to attend to honor the seniors, alumni and cheer on the team in the Trans-Valley League match against the visiting Yellowjackets.
