Members of the Escalon Lions Club are putting the finishing touches on their annual Autumn Cruise, while Saron Lutheran Church is also gearing up for a special event.
Both are on the schedule for Saturday, Sept. 9 with the cruise kicking off first.
The Lions 27th annual Autumn Cruise is hosted on Main Street and in and around the Main Street Park, with all proceeds from the cruise going to the Escalon Lions High School Scholarship Fund. The club has provided thousands of dollars in scholarships to graduating students through the years.
This year, breakfast will be served by the Escalon American Legion Post 263 at the Legion Hall, 1531Second St., from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with a cost of $10 at the door.
The classic car show itself runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 9, with registration running from 8 a.m. to noon. The ‘show and shine’ for the opportunity to enjoy looking at and learning about the classics with those who own and have restored them, is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
All are encouraged to come out for the day, enjoy the classic cars, trucks, motorcycles and possibly a restored boat or two; visit with the participants, listen to the music, take a chance on one of the many raffle items, and check out the vendor booths. There will also be more than 50 awards presented in multiple categories for the Autumn Cruise entries.
Lunch is available from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on site.
Along with the Autumn Cruise, this Saturday will also feature a fundraiser to benefit the Escalon Ministerial Association’s holiday food voucher program. Tickets for that fundraiser are $25; the event includes a baked potato bar dinner starting at 4:30 p.m., and Bunco beginning at 6 p.m., both hosted at Saron Lutheran Church, 1742 North St., Escalon.
The Escalon Ministerial Association voucher program provides food vouchers to local grocery stores for those in the community in need during the holidays, helping them put a hot, healthy holiday meal on the table.
Contact Becky Emery for tickets at 209-480-1562. Tickets will also be available at the door, but pre-sales are appreciated.
