As they have for the past few years, two local fundraisers are being offered the same night ... each one offer a tempting plate of food.
Escalon's Sober Grad Committee will host the popular drive thru tri tip dinner this Saturday, Jan. 22 at El Portal Middle School. Tickets are $35 for a dinner for a family of four. The dinner menu includes a whole tri tip, potatoes, salad, bread and soda. For more information on buying tri tip dinner tickets or assisting with the Sober Grad committee, contact Debbie Veenstra at 606-4244 or Suzanne Longstreth at 838-2892.
The dinner is delivered curbside, motorists enter the parking lot at El Portal Middle School on First Street and have the meal presented to them at their car. Proceeds from the event help put on the annual graduation night party for Escalon High School seniors.
Also scheduled, at the Escalon Community Center, is the seventh annual Escalon Kiwanis Club Crab Feed. Kiwanis and Key Club members work the event, with proceeds benefiting local community projects. Key Club is the youth arm of Kiwanis and has an active chapter at Escalon High School.
Tickets for the Saturday, Jan. 22 event are $40 and for more information, call Suzette at 402-0515. A no host bar opens at 6 p.m. with the dinner served at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Organizers of each event note that many people in the past have chosen to support both; taking the tri tip dinner home for eating on Sunday, while attending the crab feed on Saturday night.
