Saturday Dinner Canceled

Members of the Escalon American Legion are shown at one of the many parades they take part in for the community; the Post has canceled its scheduled Saturday night dinner, April 16, due to it being the Easter weekend observance.

With the Easter weekend coming up, members of the Escalon American Legion Gustafson Thompson Post have decided to cancel their April dinner.

Normally scheduled for the third Saturday evening of the month, the dinner always features a theme and Legion members typically cook up and serve the food. Officials said with Sunday, April 17 being observed as Easter Sunday, they did not want to conflict with the holiday weekend and won’t stage the April 16 dinner night.

They do anticipate a return in May – that dinner would be coming up on May 21 – and reported a successful fish fry night was enjoyed by attendees in March.

Other past themes have included Italian night, soup/stew night, and a chili cook-off.
