Join the International World Peace Rose Gardens organization for a rose pruning demonstration at the University Park World Peace Rose Garden in Stockton on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 10:30 a.m.

Participants will learn how to prune the most popular of rose varieties such as hybrid teas, grandiflora, floribunda, and more. Topics will include pruners, gloves, sharpening pruners, pruning saws, dormant sprays, composting beds, and when to fertilize. TJ David, Co-Creator of International World Peace Rose Gardens, will share knowledge on all aspects of rose growing. He has been working on the projects since 1984, and prunes about a 1,000 roses annually in various gardens.

Over a dozen roses will be given away as prizes. The event will be held, rain or shine, and light refreshments will be served. The University Park World Peace Rose Garden is at 599 E. Magnolia St., Stockton. The demonstration and admission to the University Park World Peace Rose Garden is free.

In 2014, Grupe Commercial Company partnered with The International World Peace Rose Gardens to bring the first World Peace Rose Garden to San Joaquin County in University Park, Historic Magnolia District, Stockton, CA. The University Park World Peace Rose Garden opened on May 26, 2016. With a message of “Peace Through Nonviolence”, the local garden is one of a series of nine gardens planted in some of the most cultural, historical, and sacred grounds throughout the world. The UPWPRG is sister garden to the Martin Luther King, Jr., “I Have A Dream” World Peace Rose Garden in Atlanta, Georgia. The two gardens share the theme of “Peace Through Nonviolence”.
