The final meeting on the Escalon City Council dais for longtime councilman Jeff Laugero, right, was earlier this month and Mayor Ed Alves, center, presented a plaque of appreciation for his service over the years. Laugero, planning a run for Stanislaus County District Attorney, had to move out of San Joaquin County to run for the post. Looking on here is councilman David Bellinger, left, while also on hand for the presentation were councilmen Robert Swift and Peter Krumeich. At a special meeting on Dec. 13, the council interviewed candidates to fill Laugero’s post and selected Andy Hagan, who has now taken over the post on the panel.
