The annual pancake breakfast put on by the Farmington Fire Department volunteers was hosted Sunday, May 19 at the firehouse, corner of Highway 4 and Escalon-Bellota Road.

There was plenty of wet weather rolling through the region on Sunday, but Fire Chief Conni Bailey said officials were pleased with the turnout nonetheless. Though attendance was down somewhat from past years, Bailey said the community still turned out in force and helped make the breakfast a successful event.

“I’m pleasantly surprised so many people are showing up,” Bailey said.

The breakfast included ham, eggs, pancakes and beverages and attendees also had the chance to win a variety of raffle prizes and take a chance on some silent auction items. The department’s fleet of vehicles was moved to the parking lot to open up the firehouse for dining and some took the chance to get an up close look at the various fire engines and water tenders while they were there.

Proceeds from the event help support the local volunteer department and provide scholarships for graduating Escalon High School seniors.
