Playground Equipment Now Off Limits
city

Escalon City officials have made the decision to rope off all playground equipment in city parks, though the parks themselves will remain open.

City Manager Tammy Alcantor said, based on the recommendation from county Public Health officials, the city agreed to take the playground equipment in the various city parks out of operation.

“The equipment is roped off, it has caution tape around it,” Alcantor said on Thursday afternoon, March 26.

City officials are asking residents to abide by the directive and keep children away from the equipment. The inability to sanitize thoroughly and consistently led to the decision, as all are being asked to do their part to help contain the spread of the coronavirus.

“The majority of the parks do have equipment,” Alcantor noted.

The parks are open for those wishing to utilize the open spaces, she emphasized, just not the standing equipment.
