Parade And Ceremony To Mark Veterans Day
vets day

Escalon will observe Veterans Day on Thursday, Nov. 11 with a downtown parade, a ceremony at the Veterans Wall adjacent to the Community Center, followed by a barbecue lunch.

Members of the Escalon American Legion Gustafson-Thompson Post 263 are putting the day’s events together.

The parade is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. in the downtown area with attendees encouraged to line Main Street to view the various parade entries. That will be followed by the service at 11 a.m., at the Veterans Memorial Wall, corner of Arthur Road and Escalon Avenue, by the Escalon Community Center.

After the ceremony, featuring music and a guest speaker, all in attendance are encouraged to stay for the lunch, which will be served up starting at noon. Tickets are $11 per meal and include a half-chicken or ribs, served with salad, beans and a roll. There will also be coffee and water served; diners can eat in at the Community Center or enjoy their meal as a take-out to eat at home.

Tickets can be purchased in advance from Legion members and they will also be available at the door.
