Members of the OutKast Jeepers organization are gearing up for a special benefit event, set for this Saturday, Oct. 20. The festivities start at 5 p.m. at the Oakdale Sportsmen’s Club, 840 N. Stearns Road, Oakdale and will benefit Elite Family Systems of Ceres.
President of the Jeep club, Robert McColley, said the group is a family-friendly organization and are always looking for new members. They have regularly scheduled outings, some for a day, some for longer periods with more of the off road-type Jeeps, but all are designed to offer fun and fellowship.
If you have a Jeep, bring it to the Saturday gathering and get a free raffle ticket. There will be a Jeep show, a tri-tip dinner meal served up by Lagorio’s of Farmington (tickets are $15) as well as cold drinks and thousands of dollars’ worth of items to be raffled off and auctioned. The OutKast Jeepers has members from Oakdale, Escalon, Riverbank and beyond, said McColley, and had a recent mini-show and informational session in Escalon. McColley, who used to live in Farmington, said the group likes to support charitable causes, and the Elite Family Systems works with kids in need so it fits the bill.
“This is our third year working with them and the funds we raise will go to them for items like socks, shoes, coats,” McColley explained, as well as help provide for gifts at the holidays.
“We also do care packages for the homeless and those in shelters,” noted club Vice President Mike Samaniego.
The OutKast Jeepers meets every first Friday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at Lagorio’s in Farmington. Anyone interested in learning more about the group is welcome to attend.
The club recently was granted ‘ownership’ of a trail in the Stanislaus National Forest to keep clean, similar to the ‘Adopt a Highway’ program.
Saturday’s event in Oakdale runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will features games for the kids as well as the dinner, a DJ, raffle and auction. For more information, contact McColley at 209-481-0923.
