Offenders Placed On River Road

Placement of more than one registered sex offender at a house on East River Road has local officials concerned that more may be on the way.

Escalon Police have learned that the offenders were both placed in the same location in the 29000 block of East River, off Santa Fe, between Escalon and Riverbank. While the location is not in the Escalon city limits, interim Police Chief Jim Shaw said it is "within the sphere of influence" and he thinks it is important for the public to be aware of the placement.

Ronald G. McAllister, 48, and Michael Joseph Ervin, 46, are both listed on the California Registered Sex Offender website and have listed addresses on East River Road in Escalon.

"If they're going to place these offenders, we will let people know," Shaw said, "that they will be in the community, they will shop and travel in the area."

Shaw added that he is also concerned that while McAllister and Ervin may be recent arrivals, he's not sure they will be the last offenders to take up residence in the house.

The location is close to the City of Riverbank's Jacob Myers Park as well, officials noted, but is still within San Joaquin County.

"They're all at the same house," Shaw said, adding that some residents have already contacted his department to voice their concerns.
