Representative Josh Harder (CA-9) announced on Thursday, Feb. 16 that he will host another in-person town hall focused on the Delta Tunnel project and water issues in the Central Valley on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 6 p.m. in Lodi. Last month, Harder held a Water Town Hall in French Camp with more than 150 local residents. There, the Congressman collected statements and letters from those who attended and shared their unanimous opposition to the Delta Tunnel project with the Army Corps of Engineers.

Harder began the series of Water Town Halls due to the Army Corps of Engineers initially refusing to host an in-person public event to hear from the community regarding the Delta Tunnel Project. Following Harder’s advocacy for amplifying the voices of San Joaquin residents, the Army Corps of Engineers has agreed to hear from the public, but a date and details have not been made available yet.

“I won’t let Washington and Sacramento ignore us any longer. We need to protect our water,” said Rep. Harder. “Last month, I was joined by over 150 residents who voiced unanimous opposition to the Delta Tunnel project. I’m looking forward to hearing from our community again as we stand up and speak out on behalf of San Joaquin County.”

At Tuesday’s event, Rep. Harder will be joined by water experts from across San Joaquin County. After opening remarks, members of the community will have the opportunity to make their voices heard as it relates to the Delta Tunnel project. Similar to January’s town hall, Rep. Harder’s office will pass that feedback directly to the Army Corps of Engineers.

The Feb. 21 Town Hall on Water will be hosted at: Carnegie Forum, 305 W. Pine St., Lodi.
