A dense fog advisory has been issued and will be in effect from 2 a.m. to noon Pacific Standard Time, Monday, Dec. 21.

National Weather Service forecasters are predicting visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.

The fog advisory covers the Southern Sacramento Valley, Carquinez Strait and Delta and Northern San Joaquin Valley.

Officials warn drivers to be aware of hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility. Be alert for sudden changes in visibility.

If driving, slow down, use your headlights on low beam, and leave plenty of distance between your vehicle and the car ahead of you. Allow extra time to get to your destination.
