National Night Out Preparations Begin
esc nno

The first Tuesday in August is fast approaching and Escalon Police are encouraging people to sign up for the 2022 National Night Out festivities.

Designed to promote police-community partnerships, focus on crime, drug and violence prevention and promote safety and neighborhood unity, this year’s event is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 2 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Neighborhood gatherings typically are hosted throughout the community and the police department is currently taking sign-ups for those wanting to host an event. A caravan of police, city, fire and EMS personnel stop at each gathering throughout the evening.

Application forms are available in the lobby at the Escalon Police Department on McHenry Avenue. The deadline for applications is Friday, July 22. You can fax the application to 209-838-6561, drop it in the mail or take it to the Escalon Police Department.

Information needed on the application form includes the name of the group gathering along with the organizer’s name and a contact phone number. The address of the location where the neighborhood gathering will be held is requested, along with an approximate number of persons attending and whether there will be activities such as a BBQ, games, music, etc.

Residents in local neighborhoods are asked to lock their doors, turn on their outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and public safety personnel on Aug. 2, to observe the National Night Out event.
