Seventh and eighth grade music students at El Portal Middle School took center stage on Thursday night, putting on their annual Fall Spooktacular Concert. Earlier in the week, the sixth graders offered their musical selections for family and friends as well.

On Thursday, all those performing could come in costume and most did, along with music teacher Jeremy White, who welcomed the crowd and thanked them for supporting their students.

The Jazz Band kicked off the evening with a pair of songs, Ja-Da and Ants in the Pants, then the Symphonic Band came in to perform A Freaky Fantasy and Along Came a Spider. Wrapping up the roughly half-hour concert was the Wind Ensemble, with the offerings of Spookyville and Tunes that Go Bump in the Night, complete with some added shrieking and sound effects.

White noted that the students have only had a couple of months of school to prepare for the concert and he has been pleased with their work ethic in practices and their dedication to the music program, wanting to put on a quality show for the community.
