Modesto Junior College’s weekly Science Colloquium kicks off the spring semester series with the topic “The Periodic Table: A Closer Look” presented by Linda Brzezinski, MJC professor of chemistry on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 3:15 p.m.
The presentation is planned in the Science Community Center, Room 115, on West Campus, 2201 Blue Gum Ave., Modesto. The topic celebrates the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements.
The Colloquium series offers one hour discussions on timely science-related topics, and is free and open to the public. There is a $2 charge for temporary parking permits purchased from dispensers located near MJC West Campus entrances.

Feb. 20 – Sustainable Agriculture by Peggy Hauselt, CSU Stanislaus professor of geography.
Feb. 27 – Against All Odds by Marty Lanser, who has been blind since shortly after birth.
March 6 – The History and Discovery of Helium by Daniel Chase, MJC professor of physics.
March 13 – Forensic Odontology by Garry L. Found, D.D.S., chief forensic odontologist for the Stanislaus County Sheriff-Coroner.
March 20 – The Emotions of Coffee Drinking by Erica Kenney, food biologist at E. & J. Gallo Winery.
March 27 – Habitat Fragmentation and Restoration at the Antioch Dunes National Wildlife Refuge by Alison McNally, CSU Stanislaus professor of geography.
April 3 – Coastal Oceanography at Bodega Marine Laboratory by Catherine Tripp, MJC professor of biology.
April 10 – Climate Solutions That Can Save Your World by Emily Basnight, Jim Hopf and Des Orsinelli of the Citizens Climate Lobby.
