Escalon’s American Legion Post 263 will be honoring all deceased veterans with ceremonies in the local area on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31.

Three different stops are on the schedule, starting at 10 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery on River Road. With a brief program, 21-gun salute and playing of Taps, the Legion Post members will then move on to the second stop of the day, at St. John’s Cemetery, adjacent to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church along Highway 120, at the Escalon-Ripon line, just past Carrolton Road.

That service is scheduled for 11 a.m.; followed by the final stop of the day at Farmington Memorial Park along Escalon-Bellota Road, in a 12 p.m. ceremony.

Post officials said all are invited to share the ceremonial observance for Memorial Day, with attendance at any or all of the three local services.

Often the Post members are busy with four services on Memorial Day, but noted that the Valley Home Cemetery stop was not placed on the schedule this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, so there are only three services. They anticipate Valley Home will be part of the services in 2022.
