Three separate Memorial Day services will be put on by the Escalon American Legion Gustafson-Thompson Post 263 on Monday, May 30.

Members of the Post will start with a 10 a.m. ceremony at Burwood Cemetery on River Road. All are invited to attend; the ceremony will feature a guest speaker, laying of a memorial wreath, lowering of the flag to half-staff, a 21-gun salute and the playing of Taps. Small American flags will also decorate the graves of service members buried at Burwood.

Moving on from there, the next ceremony of the day will be staged at St. John’s Cemetery off Carrolton Road at Highway 120, adjacent to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. That ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m.

The final service of the day to mark Memorial Day on Monday will be at the Farmington Memorial Cemetery, along Escalon-Bellota Road, just outside Farmington. That gathering is set for noon.
