love e

Sign-ups are being taken now for a number of projects available through the upcoming Love Escalon day of community service.

Scheduled for Saturday, April 29 kicking off with a 7:30 a.m. rally, volunteers will then spread out across the city to handle the service projects.

There are a number of ‘physical labor’ options, ranging from Highway 120 clean up to helping clean and organize at the Escalon C.A.R.E. Center food pantry, painting picnic tables at Hogan-Ennis Park, cleaning and weeding Main Street planter boxes are more.

Volunteers are also being south to help with clean up efforts at the Escalon Library and the historic Main Street caboose. Still more are needed to help host Bingo games for local senior citizens.

Coordinated through the Escalon Chamber of Commerce, the work day will run from 8 a.m. to noon.

The effort is in cooperation with the Love Our Cities program, which sees volunteers taking on community service projects in several cities around the region on the same day.

Also coming up in April, the Chamber will host the first of its scheduled Farmers Markets of the season. The market is set for Wednesday, April 19 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The market, hosted on Main Street, will be the third Wednesday of the month, with future dates including May 17, June 21, July 19 and Aug. 16.
