yes

YES (Youth Entertainment Stage) Company is producing the time-honored ‘80s musical “Footloose,” to be performed at the Gallo Center for the Arts. Tickets are now on sale at the Gallo Center for the Arts box office and www.galloarts.org.

Show dates are: Fridays, July 21 and 28; Saturdays, July 22 and 29; and Thursday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays, July 23 and 30 at 3 p.m.

Join YES Company for the energetic production of Footloose. This summer YES Company had the privilege to work with Special Guest Choreographer, Mic Thompson. A professional dancer, among his many credits Thompson has danced in Michael Jackson’s videos and choreographed for Disneyland. According to YES Company Director Melanee Wyatt, he was able to share the flavor and flair of the ‘80s dance style with student participants.

Footloose explodes onto the stage with classic ‘80s anthems including Holding Out For A Hero, Almost Paradise, Let’s Hear It For The Boy, and of course the title track, Footloose. Life in small-town Bomont is peaceful until city boy Ren arrives. Breaking every taboo, Ren brings dance back to the heart of a town held back by the memory of a tragedy. Based on the hit ‘80s movie, Footloose has become a stage musical phenomenon. It is packed full of energetic dance routines guaranteed to get you to your feet. Dancing is not a crime; to miss Footloose would be.

Beginning its 26th season, YES Company is a special project of the Stanislaus County Office of Education and the Education Foundation of Stanislaus County. This group of dedicated students must commit to a rigorous summer schedule that includes some weekends, June 1 through July 31. The time frame includes intensive theatrical training, teambuilding, and fitness, in addition to music and staging preparations.
