San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) was recently presented with an award for innovation by the Women in Transportation Seminar, Sacramento Chapter (WTS). The annual award honors an innovative transportation project or service led by a female.

“As the nation’s first all-electric Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route, we are proud that RTD and Stockton are now leading the charge in providing safe, efficient, reliable, and exceptionally clean transportation to people who live and work in Stockton,” said RTD CEO Donna DeMartino, accepting the award on behalf of RTD. “The collaborative spirit of this endeavor demonstrates how local government, transit agencies, and manufacturers can work together to deliver innovative transportation solutions that benefit those we serve. We are excited that this collaborative partnership continues, as RTD will be converting the entire Stockton fleet to fully electric buses by 2025.”

The RTD Board of Directors, Proterra’s Director Government Relations and Public Policy Kent Leacock, and several RTD employees joined DeMartino at the event. Proterra designs and manufactures electric transit buses.
