An annual event, the holiday-themed Christmas in Grandpa’s Barn saw lots of traffic and hosted a number of vendors over the weekend.

The festivities run for two weekends in December at the barn, hosted by Lorina Cajias of Lorina’s Edible Garden. Honey, salsa, handmade items, jewelry, gift cards, herbs, soaps, lotions – there was something for everyone at the event, perfect timing for getting some people checked off the Christmas gift list.

S’mores could be made over the fire pit, wagon rides through the adjoining orchards were offered and Cajias said she was thrilled with the first weekend turnout.

“I’m tired but it’s good,” she said, smiling, as shoppers mingled throughout the barn.

This week will see another busy Friday, Saturday and Sunday for vendors and shoppers alike.

Kathy Deal of Sacramento and Wendi Lancaster of Alturas, originally from Ripon, saw the information in California Bountiful magazine and decided to “make a road trip,” noted Deal.

Both were enjoying the ambiance and partaking of some honey samples.

“This is our first time,” added Elsa Cordova of Hughson, attending with friend Raquel Ferreira of Modesto.

“I love it,” said Ferreira. “I love handcrafted goods and the spices, herbs and lotions are great.”

Hours for the event this week are Friday, Dec. 9 and Saturday, Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 11 from noon to 4 p.m.

Grandpa’s Barn is at 17693 Enterprise Road, Escalon.
